Go East! The Metro Gold Line Extension Is Finally Open

Good news for all fans of great public transportation: the Gold Line now connects Union Station to Boyle Heights.
Originally, 100 years ago. the first multi-ethnic residential neighborhood near Downtown, it's now a wonderfully interesting Latino area offering the best Mexican food around L.A. as well as a lively, vibrant art and music scene. I will tell you more about it in the coming weeks, but here already the most important spot:
El Tepeyac! Famous for the 5-pound Manuel burrito that you may have seen on TV.

El Tepeyac is always packed so come hungry and expect a bit of wait.
812 N. Evergreen, Los Angeles
(213) 268 1960

Here you see my friends Gorana (she has a really lucky metabolism!) and Steve Elkins (he works out a lot!) chow down on the burritos we ordered
on a recent visit. My husband, who refuses to be photographed, recommends the chile verde.

The nearest Gold Line Stop is "Soto Avenue". It connects to Metro Bus 620, the Boyle Heights Shuttle.

Or walk it, it's just a bit over a mile and both methods take about 20 minutes:
