Dear Friends!
It has been a long while since I have had a chance to post news on my blog. It’s been a busy summer and surf’s up in warm water! But I have not just spent the summer lounging on the beach! I actually wrote for the Discover Los Angeles website! I had fun researching all the fabulous romantic possibilities and interviewing many people for the story. The result is entitled:
Ten Tips For The Perfect Los Angeles Wedding
It will hopefully inspire you to tie the knot or renew your vows!

I could not fit all my finds into “ten”, so here a few extra tips:
Location Location Location! I was blown away by how many really special landmark places are available as private event spaces. Imagine your party at the Aquarium of The Pacific in Long Beach, surrounded by millions of gallons of water and many thousands of fish. You can have a private event in the main lobby in front of the largest tank. Luau athmosphere with Hawaiian music or Caribbean feel with steel drums. Dive presentation optional.

Or go artsy at the The Pacific Design Center
We call it the Blue Whale. It is the most recognizable landmark building in West Hollywood and L.A.’s most famous chef Wolfgang Puck has the restaurant concession!
The list of celebrity clients is huge since HBO celebrates here a lot. Film premiere parties, Emmy Award parties, it’s all A-list VIPs but I could not get the very discreet event manager to name-drop.
And yes, you can rent space for your wedding.

And last but not least: the historic landmark restaurant Encounter at our international airport has reopened. If you have taken off or landed at LAX you have seen it. It’s the futuristically arched space age building in the middle, co-designed by one of L.A.’s most famous architects, Paul R. Williams. Besides working on Encounter, he worked on the Shrine Auditorium (Williams helped prepare construction drawings as a young architect), the Hollywood YMCA, the Los Angeles County Courthouse, the Los Angeles County Hall of Administration, the United Nations Building in Paris, France, Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills, the Beverly Hills Hotel, and the concrete paraboloid La Concha Motel in Las Vegas (disassembled and moved to the Neon Museum in Las Vegas, Nevada for use as the museum lobby 2006). Who knew! Nowadays, it’s all Jetson’s style with lava lamps in purple and chrome surroundings and 360 degree views of planes in action.
